Cities matter: Involving cities in ESF post 2020 to address social challenges
In the current funding period, cities achieved tangible results regarding better access to jobs, education, housing and social care for vulnerable groups with funding provided by the European Social Fund (ESF). Against this background, cities are crucial stakehokders to be considered in defining funding priorities and technical requirements for project implementation. The findings are based on a survey by EuroCities that included amongst others cities from Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Germany.

What does it take to strengthen cities - and therefore - Europe? The BACID programme aimed at strengthening governance structures in the Western Balkan and the Republic of Moldova with focus on local governments and European integration. The KDZ Centre for Public Administration Research now compiled the results in the latest publication "The future of Europe – built on strong municipalities"

PAC10 & EuroVienna organised the 1st DSPF Kick Off Meeting on Feb. 15th in Vienna. Representatives of all 12 selected projects joined the meeting and learned more about other DSPF projects and about the technical implementation of their projects.

V4 and Croatia release statement on Cohesion Policy post 2020
The Visegrad Group and Croatia released a Joint Statement on their vision of EU Cohesion Policy post 2020: The Visegrad 4 consider an increase of more than 1 percent of the EU’s next budget cycle and call for more flexibility and simplification in programme implementation.

Strengthening regional cooperation with the EEA and Norway Grants Fund
The EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Regional Cooperation was launched on 24 January 2018. The fund targets projects strengthening cross-border and transnational cooperation in the form of knowledge sharing, exchange of good practice and capacity building. Deadline for the first step of the application process is 1 July 2018.

Public consultation on EU funds in the area of cohesion
In 2018, the European Commission will make comprehensive proposals for the next financial programmes for the post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF). Against this background, the Commission launched a public consultation on EU funds in the area of cohesion until 8 March 2018. Take part and have your say!
